Nam leads Novodan’s AI engineering. He joined as a machine learning engineer in 2022 and took the work on full time in 2026, building the knowledge base management system that organizes enterprise data and serves it to AI applications, and the agentic systems that carry out multi-step tasks rather than simply answering questions. He also contributes to PAIR, a European research project.

Computer vision in the clinic

His main research line at Novodan is computer vision for liver disease diagnosis, from preprocessing, training and evaluation pipelines through to deployable modules that go into products. The work is as much about robustness and documented evidence as accuracy, because a model that cannot be explained cannot be used in a clinical setting.

Before Novodan

Nam headed an AI department in Hanoi, leading a cross-functional team of eleven engineers across face recognition, eKYC, camera AI, chatbots and the backend systems underneath them. Timekeeping and face recognition went into more than 150 enterprises and retail sites, real-time camera analytics into three large enterprise customers, and an eKYC onboarding flow into a national bank. Earlier work covered biomedical computer vision for lung cancer detection, analysis of clinical records, and multilingual OCR for Japanese and Vietnamese documents.

Training and tools

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Big Data and Machine Learning from Duy Tan University, with certifications in deep learning and data analytics. He works in Python and R, with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn and LangChain, and runs them on Docker, FastAPI and Triton. His interests are machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, probability and statistics, and AI ethics.
