Hanoi, 24 August 2026 — NOVODAN ApS and Phu Tho Medical College have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a framework for long-term cooperation in scientific research, research data analytics, and research capacity development.
The signing took place in Hanoi on 24 August 2026, with Mr. Nguyen Quang An, Rector of Phu Tho Medical College, representing Phu Tho Medical College, and Dr. Le Quy Vang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NOVODAN ApS, representing NOVODAN.
The partnership aims to strengthen collaboration between the two organisations by connecting expertise in biomedical and health sciences with data science, statistical analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI). Through the MOU, the parties seek to create a foundation for joint research activities, academic and professional knowledge exchange, training programmes, and the gradual development of broader research collaboration.
Establishing a Framework for Long-Term Research Collaboration

The MOU establishes a framework for cooperation in scientific research and research capacity development, particularly in the fields of biomedicine, healthcare, medical education, and related areas that align with the functions and expertise of both organisations.
Under the framework, NOVODAN may provide professional and academic support to Phu Tho Medical College across different stages of the research process. The specific scope and methods of support will be determined according to the research questions, study design, characteristics of the available data, professional requirements, and the agreement between the two parties for each individual research activity.
The collaboration is intended to support not only individual research tasks, but also the gradual development of research capabilities and sustainable research practices within the College.
Research Data Analytics and AI
One of the key areas of cooperation is the application of appropriate statistical, data science, and AI approaches to biomedical, clinical, healthcare, and other research datasets.
Depending on specific research needs, potential activities may include:
- Research and analysis design, including the selection of appropriate statistical and analytical methods;
- Data management, cleaning, standardisation, and preprocessing;
- Descriptive, inferential, univariate, multivariate, and other appropriate statistical analyses;
- Analysis of clinical, hospital, healthcare, and health-related datasets;
- Analysis of survey and behavioural datasets related to healthcare, technology adoption, perceptions, attitudes, and other relevant research questions;
- Analysis of omics data, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics;
- Multi-omics data integration and analysis;
- Analysis of complex biological systems, including systems biology and microbiome-related datasets;
- Integration of clinical, omics, and other relevant research data;
- Development, evaluation, and validation of machine learning, AI, and predictive models where appropriate;
- Support for the identification and evaluation of potential biomarkers within the limitations of the available data and research design; and
- Development of tables, figures, analytical outputs, and other materials to support research interpretation, reporting, and publication.
The selection of analytical methods will be guided by the research question, study design, data characteristics, and data quality rather than by any predetermined outcome. NOVODAN does not guarantee a particular statistical result, model performance, biomarker identification, or other specific scientific outcome.
Academic Support and Research Publication

The cooperation may also extend to academic support throughout the development and publication of research.
NOVODAN may support researchers in refining research questions, objectives, and hypotheses; reviewing research methodology and data analysis plans; developing manuscript structures; improving the presentation of analytical results; and providing scientific feedback on the clarity, logic, and consistency of research manuscripts.
Where appropriate, the collaboration may also include support in selecting suitable journals and responding to reviewer or editor feedback during the manuscript revision process.
Such support is intended to complement, rather than replace, the scientific responsibility of the research authors. All research and publication activities will be conducted in accordance with principles of research integrity, authorship, conflict-of-interest management, and applicable journal policies. Publication support does not constitute a guarantee of acceptance or publication by any specific journal.
Research Strategy and Funding Proposal Development
Another potential area of cooperation is the development of research strategies and funding proposals.
NOVODAN may provide support in identifying research problems, developing research questions and hypotheses, structuring research projects, defining work packages and expected outcomes, and aligning research ideas with relevant funding programmes.
Where appropriate, the collaboration may also involve support for developing funding proposals at institutional, national, international, or European Union level, as well as identifying potential research partners and building collaborative research networks.
The objective is to help research teams develop proposals that are scientifically coherent, feasible, and aligned with the requirements of relevant funding programmes. NOVODAN’s support does not constitute a guarantee that a research proposal will receive funding.
Training, Knowledge Transfer and Research Capacity Development
In addition to project-based research collaboration, the MOU provides a basis for training, knowledge transfer, and the development of research capabilities.
Potential training and professional development activities may include:
- Research design, research methodology, and statistics;
- Management, analysis, and interpretation of biomedical, clinical, and healthcare data;
- Genomics, metabolomics, multi-omics, bioinformatics, and analysis of complex biological systems;
- Data science, machine learning, and AI applications in biomedical and healthcare research;
- Scientific writing, research integrity, and international research publication;
- Research proposal development, project management, and access to research funding opportunities; and
- Seminars, workshops, conferences, and other professional knowledge-exchange activities.
These activities may be organised in different formats and levels depending on the needs of the College and the objectives of individual programmes, ranging from short-term courses and workshops to more advanced training programmes.
A Collaborative Approach Across the Research Lifecycle
For suitable research projects, the two organisations may explore a more comprehensive collaboration covering different stages of the research lifecycle.
This may include the development of research questions and objectives, study design, data collection and management planning, data analysis and interpretation, development of scientific outputs, funding proposal development, connection with relevant scientific, clinical, or technology partners, and capacity development for participating research teams.
For each specific project, the scope of work, roles and responsibilities, expected deliverables, timeline, and required resources will be agreed upon separately by the two parties.
This approach provides flexibility for the collaboration to develop in accordance with the needs and maturity of individual research projects.
Statements from the Representatives
Mr. Nguyen Quang An, Rector of Phu Tho Medical College, highlighted the importance of strengthening research capacity and creating opportunities to apply modern analytical approaches in health and medical research. He noted that cooperation with NOVODAN can provide an opportunity for researchers and lecturers to access additional expertise in research methodology, data analytics, and emerging technologies, while supporting the College’s broader research development objectives.
Dr. Le Quy Vang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NOVODAN ApS, emphasised NOVODAN’s interest in contributing its expertise in data science, AI, and research analytics to support research and capacity development in the health and biomedical fields. He expressed the expectation that the MOU will provide a practical foundation for the two organisations to identify specific areas of collaboration and gradually develop research, training, and knowledge-exchange activities based on shared expertise and research needs.
Next Steps
Following the signing of the MOU, NOVODAN and Phu Tho Medical College will continue discussions to identify specific research and training priorities, assess potential collaborative projects, and determine appropriate implementation approaches.
The next stage is expected to focus on translating the general cooperation framework into concrete activities, including potential research data analysis projects, training programmes, academic support, and research proposal development.
Through this partnership, NOVODAN and Phu Tho Medical College aim to contribute to the development of research capacity, promote the responsible application of data science and AI in health-related research, and create opportunities for broader academic and research collaboration at both national and international levels.
